Texas Traditions

Posted on: June 5th, 2012 by admin No Comments

Hill Country RV Resort & Cottage Rentals is conveniently located nearby many newer attractions, including Schlitterbahn, Fiesta Texas and San Marcos outlets, but many of the area’s greatest attractions are built on long-spanning traditions.

Gruene Hall and the Phoenix Saloon are Texas traditions, representing the rich history and culture found in the area. The Phoenix Saloon opened in 1870 and underwent many different names and owners and has survived bar fights, fires and Prohibition. The newly renamed and revamped Phoenix Saloon held its Grand Opening in 2010 and now hosts concerts every weekend, showcasing local and rising acts.

Gruene Hall was built in 1878 and is the oldest continually running dance hall in the state. The venue has welcomed the brightest and best Country, Western and Gospel stars throughout its long history.

The dance hall hosts regular concerts as well as the “Friday Afternoon Club”, a live broadcast by 92.1 FM with happy hour prices and prize giveaways. On “Two Ton Tuesdays” guests can take an hour swing dancing lesson, then dance to music by rockabilly band Two Tons of Steel.

And be sure to catch the monthly “Gospel Brunch with a Texas Twist”. Every second Sunday brunch is provided by the Gristmill, accompanied by inspiring speakers and Gospel artists.
