Hill Country Salutes the Late ‘Mayor of Gruene’

Posted on: June 21st, 2013 by admin No Comments
Sunday, June 23rd, is Frank Schlather Day at Gruene Hall, the oldest dance hall in Texas. Everyone loved Frank. He was the unofficial “mayor” of Gruene and part of the social culture of Gruene Hall. All the visitors wanted their photo with him, and Frank always accommodated with his precious, cheerful grin and spent a lot of time talking to folks.
Gruene Hall misses him dearly – so each year on his birthday, June 23rd –  it celebrates his life and what he meant to all who knew him. In honor of the former “Mayor” of Gruene, Gruene Hall will be offering 50¢ beers from noon to 2 p.m. Wear an original Frank Schlather T-shirt and get 50¢ beers until 4 p.m.
Coming to Gruene Hall in the coming weeks are Leon Russell on June 28, Todd Rungren’s Official State Visit on June 29, Cory Morrow on July 12 and Radney Foster on July 13.
